DNA testing may be suggested when the documents submitted with a U.S. visa, passport, Immediate Relative (IR-2), Family Preference (F-4) or Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) application are insufficient to establish the claimed biological relationship between family members.
This situation can occur because of inconsistencies on a birth certificate, missing civil documents, or discrepancies between the information submitted with the immigration petition and supporting evidence.
In these circumstances, immigration DNA testing is considered one of the most reliable forms of secondary evidence available to help verify the claimed biological relationship and support the immigration case.
Please note that DNA testing does not guarantee visa, passport, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) approval. Final decisions are made solely by the requesting immigration agency based on the totality of the evidence submitted.

- Receive the Proper Documentation
The petitioner or beneficiary should first receive a Request for Evidence I-130 or 797 (RFE) from USCIS or U.S. passport agency suggesting DNA testing be performed. This step is important because immigration agencies generally require the testing process to follow a specific chain-of-custody procedure. - Contact Our Office

Blood sample collections are also available; however, they are considered a more invasive collection method and provide the same level of DNA testing accuracy as standard cheek swab collections.
