DNA test results showing 99.99% accuracy or higher are accepted by USCIS and U.S. embassy and consular offices and are used to confirm petitioners and beneficiaries are biologically related for visa and CRBA applications.
When can DNA testing be performed for immigration visas?
DNA testing for immigration visas should only be performed after receiving a USCIS I-130 Request for Evidence (RFE) letter. USCIS issues this letter when the petitioner’s submitted documents are insufficient to prove a claimed familial relationship.
Voluntary DNA testing is considered a reliable form of secondary evidence submission available. Testing before receiving the RFE risks rejection because a proper chain of custody has not yet been established. It should be noted, DNA Testing does not guarantee visa and CRBA issuance.
