What is Immigration DNA testing in Pakistan process?
DNA testing for immigration purposes is a voluntary genetic testing option that determines the biological relationship between a parent and child (paternity & maternity) or, between siblings (full siblings or half siblings) when the petitioner submits insufficient evidence when filing an immigrant visa (IV) or for a consular report of a birth abroad (CRBA).
Remember, genetic testing does not guarantee visa acceptance.
DNA testing process works
- Getting started is simple, upon receipt of your Request for Evidence letter contact IDTO at 877-680-5800 to schedule an appointment.
- After the petitioner’s appointment is scheduled and DNA samples have been collected in the U.S. The laboratory will ship a DNA kit to the U.S. embassy in both Islamabad and Karachi.
Once the U.S. Consular officer has received the beneficiary’s DNA kit. The consular officer will contact the beneficiary to schedule your appointment by email.
After the beneficiary’s samples have been collected . The genetic samples will shipped back to the laboratory in the United States.
Upon receipt of your DNA samples by the laboratory the will begin the testing process
Once testing is complete. A copy of your results will be sent to the requesting immigration office and another copy will be mailed to your home.

What method of DNA sample collection will take place?
Buccal cheek swabs are the most commonly used method of specimen collection. The cheek swabs are placed inside your mouth and brush against the left and cheeks for 30 seconds.
How long does DNA results take in Pakistan for Immigration purposes?
Turnaround times for international immigration DNA Testing purposes is 6 to 8 weeks sometimes longer.
It should be noted that the embassy is responsible for scheduling the appointment for the beneficiary and not the laboratory.
