What is U.S. Passport DNA Testing?
Passport DNA testing is used when there’s insufficient evidence to prove a parent-child relationship. The passport agency will suggest a DNA test to the applicant.

Getting Started:
1. The Passport Agency will mail you a letter providing your family with the option to perform a DNA test.

3. After you schedule your appointment has been coordinated, your DNA samples will be collected and your samples will be shipped to the laboratory.
4. When your samples arrive at the laboratory. The turnaround time for your result to be completed in 2 to 3 working days from the date the lab receives the samples.
5. Once the testing is completed. A copy of the results will be mailed to the requesting Passport office and a copy will be emailed and mailed to your home.
Please note, all legal DNA testing services we provide are performed by a partner AABB Accredited DNA Testing lab. Only an accredited testing lab can perform legal chain of custody testing.
This means your results will be recognized by Family Courts, Passport Offices, United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Embassies worldwide.

Step 2: For the petitioner’s DNA Sample Collection in the United States Parent/s and child will not be able to perform or use a home DNA test kit. All DNA tests must be under the strict supervision by an accredited Lab in order for a U.S. Embassy or USCIS official to consider your DNA test result as evidence.
At your appointment, a buccal swab collection is a required choice for collecting genetic DNA samples. After your samples are collected it will be shipped to the laboratory in the U.S.
Once the applicant/petitioner’s samples arrive at the lab. The lab will prepare the shipment of the DNA test kit going to the U.S. Embassy where the beneficiary is currently located.
Step 3. After all DNA samples arrive at the lab, testing will begin with all genetic samples involved with your DNA test.

The average turnaround time for DNA results to be completed is 2 to 3 business days from the date the laboratory receives all genetic testing samples.
Upon the completion of the DNA analysis. The laboratory will ship a copy of your results to the requesting U.S. Passport Agency. A second copy will be mailed to the client’s home.
